Community Standards
These standards keep United Witness usable for people who need help, and safe for everyone involved in an issue.
What we protect
United Witness protects discussion and personal testimony. People may describe what happened to them, ask for help, and organize information about an issue.
Users may disagree and provide corrections. Disagreement is part of building an accurate public record.
What is not allowed
- Threats, calls for violence, or organizing retaliation.
- Targeted harassment or slurs.
- Doxxing: home addresses, private phone numbers, private email addresses, Social Security numbers, banking information, or passwords.
- Identifying information about minors.
- Impersonation or fabricated professional credentials.
- Fabricated records or knowingly false submissions.
- Spam, scams, malware, or unsafe links.
- Sealed records or material the poster has no legal right to share.
Allegations and facts
The platform distinguishes allegations from established facts. Publication does not establish guilt, and helpful votes never determine whether an allegation is true.
Author control and platform safety
Authors control participation in their own discussion, including comment approval, pinning useful guidance, and blocking abusive accounts. Community control does not override platform safety rules, administrator safety notices, platform correction notices, or verified formal institutional responses.
Reporting
Anyone with an account can report a post, comment, message, profile, or attachment. Reporting content does not guarantee removal. Affected users may appeal a moderation decision.
